Marketing 101: Six Little Video Marketing Tips

Video Marketing if done properly can be a great source of income to your home business. The trick is to do it right and make the video engaging and professional.

Rule number one:
DO not try to SELL to people up front on your video.  Seems simple enough, but you would be surprised the number of marketing videos I see where someone is pushing a blatent sale.   I switch off... Why? because I already have a home business, I am not looking for another one.

Instead, follow Rule number two:
Offer a resolution to a problem. How to videos, or videos where you appear to resolve problem areas people have are of more value and will get more views and ratings.  Nowthese could be things where you have had problems and you have found resolutions,its best to write about what you have experienced as it makes it all the more personal.

Rule number Three  
Get a good video camera to film your videos. Nothing is worse than the sound volume is crappy or the quality of the video is poor. These days HD cameras dont have to cost the earth.  From what I see on the market, most people use the Flip Camera because of its size, and simplicity as well as not being too costly.















Rule Number Four
Be engaging on your video, nothing is worse than dull videos, or monotone voices.  Add a little background music or get some interaction going on in your video where appropriate. Make your videos fun and people will want to watch them.

Rule Number Five
Playtime to be no longer than 3 mins max. Any longer and you will lose your audiences concentration span.

Rule Number Six
Get a good editing software tool . Alot of marketers I know including myself use Camtasia. There is also a Mac version of this software.  You can edit on a number of levels, include by lines, links in videos, music tracks zoom and pan and more.  Make your video look professional and ensure you select a great editing tool to do this.  Nothing is worse than a really rough looking home made video. 


A little tip from me, I tend to structure my videos and make a little film map (story board) so to speak of what I am going to talk about and then time myself before I go ahead and do the real thing. Rehearsing is key.  Be succinct in getting your point across. WHere you can add your website or additional details on how to contact you either as a byline in the video or in the 'credits' at the end.

How To Get Your Articles Noticed

 One of the ways in which you can get free advertising for your business and publicity is by generating articles.

What do you write about?  The simplest advice is to write about what you know.  Articles should be at minimum between 450 - 600 words long.  You should not put a URL above the fold as most article submitters or ezine sites will reject your article. Also you need to ensure that you do not use another authors words.  Again, article ezine sites do not and will not tolerate this and your article will not be accepted.

Before writing an article, do your keyword search pretty much like you would if you were advertising on google or for pay per click. Why you ask, well, your articles just like ads are indexed by the spider bots that weave their way around the world wide web.  Have you noticed when you do a 'google' search on something you get a list of articles in the organic searches.  This is down to good keyword research.

You can break your articles down into 'chapters' or 'parts', not only will this give you lots to write about, but also gives out continuity to your readers.  Check your spelling and grammar, important feature of writing articles.  People tend to notice the mistakes and not the message you are conveying.

Copywritingis an essential part of article writing, if you are not good at ad copy, then put yourself on a course such as this click Here for more information.  
Good copy  writng skills will blow apart the competition, get readers attention from the start and get people to purchase whatever it is you are retailing.  Remember you have about 8 - 10 seconds to get peoples attention, having eye catching titles, and enthralling story lines to keep them hooked is essential to getting your article noticed.

Leadership - Coaching For Success

As a leader we gave to be able to differentiate between leading and babysitting. Far too often you start out thinking your helping your team member by hand holding them through the process.

What your doing is building dependency. This often comes back to bite you hard. Instead coach your team members to become independent of you. Guide them to where the information they need is, then let them read up on things, learn things for themselves. As a coach, you should always be steering them to where they need to be.

Hold regular contact with your team members, teach them what you know. Done may become better than you in areas, that's when you know you have done your job well.

Encourage leadership amongst your team members, let others take the lead. It will help to building a string team of people dedicated to give value to others.

Experience - The Old Man And The Big Ship

I received this as an email message from a friend and thought it relevant for those of us who want to make changes in our lives. It is important to remember that knowledge through experience has a value. Do all you can to bring value to other peoples lives.

Now read the story all the way through carefully as there is a moral attached.
Have you ever heard the story of the giant ship engine
that failed? The ship's owners tried one expert after
another, but none of them could figure out how to fix
the engine. Then they brought in an old man who had
been fixing ships since he was a youngster. He carried
a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this
man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking
things over, the old man reached into his bag and
pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

 I listened to a leadership call today by our founder Jay Kubassek and in it he talked about why only 3% of Business Owners and Internet Marketers succeed.  We all come into network marketing with the ultimate goal of making extra money to top up our current take home pay, some of us with the ultimate goal to 'sack the boss', and being able to work for ourselves.

BEING THANKFUL FOR LIFE / LOVE

Just completed reading 'The Power' by Rhonda Byrne and it has completely blown me away. SO simple, yet so far from our thoughts and everyday living. What am I talking about?? LOVE, in all aspects of our lives and day to day living.

Be grateful you have a roof over your head, there are those in India and other places in the world who do not and wish they had.

Be grateful for your current health, there are those who are a lot worse off than you,but who do not complain and just get on their day to day tasks.

Be grateful for your friends and family in your life, for what would your life be without them. Give them love now while they can receive it.

I feel so inspired and lifted to know that I am the creator of my OWN universe / world, and my thoughts and actions make this possible. I guess Albert Einstein said this too, he understood this and created his own world, always thanking others for their findings which helped him create his findings...

Love is the basis of life, we are born through love and many of us die having loved and been loved. When we die, we are not dead,we just do not ceases to exist, I like to believe that we merely moved onto to another level spiritually.

Attitude is key to your success, and in truth it is also key to your failures.  We must learn to learn from our failures, whether they are in our home business or our personal lives,  have a positive outcome from these at times when it can be hard to find a positive outcome from a negative situation, but look deep, it will be there. 
Attitude is the difference between having a will to live, and giving up on life.  SO many give up on their dreams and their lives without really fighting.  Having the right attitude helps the fighter in you, gives you the courage and determination to keep going, when others around you may have given up.  

Self development helps to give you the right attitude, and it is important to keep learning and growing each day. Plug into an area of positiveness, arm yourself against the negative or wrong attitude types. Build up your internal armour of self gratitude and positive attitude and you will go far...

You don't have to be a Guru to Build a List

List Building is the life blood of any business.  Every person who clicks on your website is a potential customer so, you want to be able to capture their details so that you can promote further services or products to them at a later date. When you spend the hard earned 'spondooleys' drive traffic to your website you are increasing your lead generation.  Having a good autoresponder service is key to improving the conversion rate of those leads.   Personally I user Aweber, and it is a service that the majority of succesful online marketers use. 

If you have a company website, more than likely it will have an aweber autoresponder list builder behind it.  But this is a company website.  If you should leave the company all the hard earned leads you have built up will be lost.  They will end up with the company you left.  Just think how much money you spent generating those leads for them to not really be under your control.

With Aweber you can create a newsletter and send that out to your email list when you like. You can create more than one type of email list, you can direct these from your blog, your website (s), or even to affiliate links.

You can also create capture forms (used for email sign ups), and more importantly you can also track who opened your emails or not.

If you are serious about making a full time income online, you need two things in my opionion

                          a) your own website

                          b) your own mailing list client

If you haven't already got a seperate mailing list client, then I suggest you look around for one now. Aweber is one of the more well known ones, but there is also icontact which has been getting some good reviews also.

Are you Scared of Objections On The Phone?

Hey Networkers, today my blog is about talking to potential prospects. You see I have just had the exciting pleasure of going through the Black Belt Recruiting Course by Mike Dillard and this is great stuff...why didnt I find it sooner: )

So often when we get on the phone to our potential prospects some how or other our intended message seems to get 'lost in translation'. This is not about speaking different languages, well it is and it isn't. It is not about whether you speak English and your prospect speaking GREEK, it is about being on the same LEVEL and WAVE LENGTH.  

It is about how well you can convey yourself to your prospect.  Do you let them take charge in the conversation? Or are you a leader and are able to pull the conversation back in your side of the court?  Being able to do the latter will bring you much more respect and qudos as being a leader. 

Let's face it, people look to join leaders, and if you are just not seen to be cutting it as a leader, then you are going to travel a long up hill road to being successful in this industry.

Networking Your Way To Success

The question to ask yourself is this... 'are you mixing with like minded people?' who you mix with with determine your success. I don't know how many books I have read that have said in order to be a success, it is advisable to be around successful people. Why? well let's look at it shall we. You are influenced greatly by those who are around you, and if you are surrounded by successful people, you will begin to think like them, act like them, and hold yourself up like them.

So, that being said, if you are currently not going out and mixing with successful people, there is only so far in life that you can go. Being a part of a physical group, or online one or being able to talk to others via email or mailing each other is a great way to not only share ideas, but to brainstorm issues or problems with others who are then able to provide you with possible solutions

Albert Einstein and Napoleon Hill talk about 'Master Mind Groups'. This is where a group of like minded people meet up once a week or month or whenever they decide to, and each person is successful in different areas of industry, life etc. You are then able to brainstorm business ideas, or problems together to come to a resolution that meets your needs. The Master Mind Group is not for gossiping or small talk it is about discussing ways to improve each others lives or business. It is about staying around people who are positive, like minded and who have things in common with you.

It is amazing what you can accomplish when you don't care who gets the credit!

There are many social networking sites where you can begin your own mastermind groups or join existing ones.  Sites like www.ecademy.com or www.linkedin.com,www.betternetworker.com are really good for networking with like minded business people, and people who are able to help solve issues or problems. These are just a few that I have found really useful, and there are many more out there, so let me know if you find any more useful sites by leaving a comment on this blog postecademy. Build up a good rapport online and take it from there.

There are also forums that you can join on most topics, just google for a forum of your choice and begin to network with like minded people.

2. Realise it is not about you - Remember, the essence of public speaking is to give your audience something of value. The audience are there to hear the message you are going to deliver. The purpose of public speaking is not for you to get something out of it from your audience. It is about YOU giving useful information to your audience.

Do you Really Know What You Want Out Of Life

You may have come across this question many times in the past or even recently. Do you know what it is you want out of Life. Life is short, sometimes we tend to stumble through a number of years, then realise (unfortunately for some, too late) that we need to get our lives sorted and straightened out. Find out what our purpose is. Is that an in built gene you think? I know that I had this calling from my mid twenties, I felt that there must have been a reason why I was put on this earth, it took me a further 5 years to find out what that calling was,and yes I had a light bulb moment when it eventually came.

How about you, are you on the path of discovering what you want out of life and what are you doing about it. It is one thing finding our what it is you want, but another in taking action to ensure you achieve it.

Take time to reflect on the things that you have done in your life, and the things that you would like to do given if money was no object.

Write them down, it is important to visualise your thoughts, writing them down kind of imprints them on your brain, your inner consciousness.

Take steps to achieve them, it may take several steps, you may need to draw up plans, but go ahead and do this, work with urgency as time has a way of ticking away quickly.

Work with changing what you are to what you want to become.

Should You Go For 0800 or FREE Phone Numbers?

I remember when I first got into my first MLM home business, we were told to go and get an 0800 number. Having got this, I felt pretty cool, a proper official business owner. 0800 numbers can be used effectively for a 'direct response' advertisement, but aside from that it may have the adverse affect.

If like me you have a home business opportunity, then more or likely your sponsor will have at some point recommended you go get yourself an 0800 number for our advertising. Now, I can see some benefit to having an 0800 number. For instance if you are in one part of the country, then having an 0800 number can mask your whereabouts, also for the fact that some people may be put off by ringing a number in Birmingham, when they are London based for example.

If you have ever felt put off by a task simply because you feel it will get you no where, you have to PERSIST.

If your conversion ratio is only 2/10 you have got to PERSIST until you get to the next level,then PERSIST some more...

How Far Will You Go to Be Succesful?

Everyone wants to be successful,but most are not willing to do what it takes. Why? It's too uncomfortable and too easy to put off.

How far will you go to be succesful? What are you willing to sacrifice short term to meet your long term goals. If your reason for wanting something is not strong enough or powerful enough, you wont develop the vision of the focus to achieve your goal. You have to be able to live, visualise and breathe your goals, be willing to do what ever it takes. Far too often being a success may mean stepping outside of your comfort zone. Not many of us are willing to do this, much to our detriment.

Do you Know How To Motivate Yourself?

I recently came back from holiday and had such a lovely relaxing time, I am struggling a bit to get back into the 'work mode' thing for my home business. I thought to myself, what can I do to motivate MYSELF?

Money is a good motivation, but what if the money is just coming in anyway, what is motivating you then? Then I received an email in my in box the other day and the contents of which inspired and motivated me to get back into action. Why? I hear you ask.

It was an email from a friend outlining the story of a lady who had tackled her 'goliath', and against all odds she had won. Now this lady 'Sophia Stewart' had written a play some years ago in 1981 called 'The Third Eye', she had submitted this to an agent but it was not used. Some years later a succesful series of movies 'The Matrix I,II,III' hit our screens earning over $2.5billion dollars. Sophia realised these were based on her play and she begun a fight to take on media giants Warner Brothers. This case was not even mentioned in the media... why? Well Warner Brothers own a lot of media magazines, tv shows, radio stations. It took 6 years for her to win her fight, but she had HOPE, she knew what was what and had FAITH that all would end well.

So, for me, this story of HOPE and having FAITH and being able to succeed against all odds finally motivated me to get back on track.

Mike Dillard is really just a simply guy like you and me. The only difference is that he has been around in Network Marketing for a while and has picked up a lot of useful information which he has been able to put into action and has seen amazing results.

What PRICE are you paying for your success?

How do you judge someones success? A Lawyer with thier own practice, a top plastic surgeon, or a business owner who has a chain of shops or a business that has a 6 figure turnover. Each person who is deemed on top of his or her career, or steadily climbing up the corporate ladder called success doesn't mean they are not paying a high price for this success.

Let's havea look at that price. Well you get the fantastic house in a nice neighbourhood, thetop ofthe range BMW or other luxury car, kids in private school, luxury holidays, designer clothes maybe.
These are what most of us work or and would like to have, a small few actually do go on to achieve this level of success, but with it come the 70 plus hours a week, little or no home life or no life, stress, relationship break downs, alcohism, health deterioration, high debt rates to keep up the lifestyle. This is the reality that stands behind most successful menand women in the twentyfirst century.

My mother always said never judge a book by its cover. Most highly successful people in Corporate America and everywhere else over the world think of the same thing, ' if only there was a way to create the same level of income but working less hours a week and have fun doing it.

There are ways and means to create the same level of income while working less hours a week, MLM,Network marketing, direct marketing are some of the alternatives. They allow you to create your own home business so you can 'build up' your income level on a part time basis. But, here is the thing, you need to treat your home business as a business. After all this is the vehicle that will get you out of your fulltime blood sucking energy draining job. That is the mistake most home business owners make, they treat their business as a hobby and not seriously as a business.

As with any traditional business you need to be consistant, put 100% into it until it gets of theground. You also need to invest in your business and yourself. You may need to learn new skills, so you need to take the time out to do so. When you work for an employer you keep your skills up to date by going on relevant courses. This is no different when you are a business owner.

The sad statistic for having a successful home business is that only 3% are actually succesful. Statistics also tell us that small business owners make up a huge portion of the economy as more and more people want to become in charge of their income / destiny and not rely on an employer. Let's face it job stability is not as prevalent as it was even 10 years ago.

What I am Reading

I thoughtI would share a book that I am reading right now as it is inspiring me with lots of fresh ideas. Reading is such an important part of self development, we all need to continually grow, and you can't grow if you don't learn. It is true what they say, knowledge is power.

Anyway, the book I am reading is by Stephen Covey, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. He talks about doing the things successful people do, and he also looks at the non productive habits of inefficient people.
