Annoying Wordpress Blogs... Losing focus and now getting back on track...

It has been a month of grief for me in August!  Having issues with my wordpress blog, however, all seems to have been resolved and am feeling back to normal.

It's funny how when things do not seem to go well, and demotivation sets in.
SO I thought I would write about how I got over this.

We can all get disheartened when things don't seem to be going away we want them to. Our mood changes, we snap at the people who are trying to help us, and we tend to back out and back away from the crowd.
It's all too easy to spiral downwards into a almost type of depression when you just don't Wanna do anything. Have you been there?

So, after feeling really fed up and demotivated I'm really wanted to get back into the blogosphere. I mustered up the effort to get in touch with my network provider and sort out the issue of whether it was my Internet or my blogging platform.

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised from both of the customer service was exceptional. They understand my plight and really wanted to help me get back on board especially when I sounded so down. As soon as my problem was resolved which took just over a week to do I was back on board marketing away and in a lot more happier mood.

However I was kind of stuck. I just didn't know what to write about. So I got back onto my learning path, started reading other peoples blogs, started looking at the news and what was happening around me.
Taking interest in your business and other peoples business and what they're finding difficult also help to give me information about what I could write about.

So now I'm back on board ready to fire up the Workfmhomdiva blog watch out for interesting posts  from me over the next few days, months etc...

Have you had an experience where you are completely demotivated? What did you do to get back on track share with us below

Motivational Wednesday Video - How to Flip Your Switch

Did You Wake Up On The Wrong Side of Bed?

Sometimes we start of having a bad day, either receiving bad news
falling out of bed, stubbing our toe, being suddenly woken up.

Whatever has made you miserable at the beginning of the day
is also making your day a 'miserable day' unless you are
able to 'flip your emotional switch' and get back on
the positive side of the trace.

Great advice here in my video below which can help.

If you find this useful, why not leave me a comment below.

What It Takes To Get To The Top

In the London 2012 Olympics Usain Bolt and his running partner Yohan Blake dominated the track events.

However it was hard work, practice, determination and focus which got them to where they were.

The same can be said for home business owners setting up a new home business.

It's not easy setting up a business, especially if you have never done this before. If I had to start again I would have followed my checklist which I have built up through time.

I call it my cheat sheet. It has helped me to start up several online businesses successfully.

If you don't get a helping hand right at the beginning it can be very daunting.

That is why it is so important to have a good coach.  Having someone to be accountable to can keep you focussed.

I offer coaching to business clients and private individuals.  Many who seek advice from coaches are trying to get help to achieve their goals or to focus on achieving one thing at a time.
Being able to talk to someone who is able to be subjective andgive you clarity so that you can then come to your own solutions and conclusions is so rewarding.

Even us coaches need a coach to help us keep on track with what it is we want to achieve.

If you feel you would benefit from coaching, email me direct colette@colettemorris.com

Value of Your Sight

Today I had to visit the Opticians to perform a regular routine eye examination. I had to undergo some extensive tests after the optician had taken my eye pressures and found them to be a little on the high side. One reason for this he mentioned was the possibility of my developing glaucoma at a later stage in my life.

It just made me think about all the things I am currently grateful for by having my sight, and all the things I need to do with my life with sight. Not that a life without sight would stop me from achieving what I set to achieve, I may just have to get there another way, but I will get there.

Having sight is important, so is having a vision. Having a vision does not need sight, having vision is making something you want so real in your mind, you can see it visually, mentally and feel it physically. You can feel the emotions, touch, smells that your vision arouses in you. Imagine if you were without sight how much more those visions would mean to you, how much more driven you would be to achieve.

Whilst life with sight is for most of us a given, for the few it is precious and for the ones who are born totally blind it is a sense that has not been experience, but one that is not lost as the others take over to cover the loss of sight, your mind and imagination takes over to bring you that experience of what it would be like to 'see' the visions you have in your head.

So today I figured, live my life with a vision of a blind person, so that my dreams, my goals are so real and clear in my mind and that I carry them with me every single day as if they were my only way of 'seeing' my future with sight....

To your personal growth and success!

Daily Visualisation, Manifesting your Goals

Everyone has goals and dreams, but not everyone follows them through.
Life gets in the way, throws out untimely events to put you off track. Thats why it is really important to have some ME time on a daily basis. Spend 15 minutes a day first thing in the morning is ideal and possibly last thing at night. Just taking time out to focus on your dreams and goals can set you up for a great focussed day.

Whe you think about your goals or dreams you need to be specific, the more details better. What is the purpose, and what is it that you really want to achieve.
Make your goals SMART.

Specific - Describe to the infinite level of what it is you want to achieve, if you dont get this right you wont achieve the right thing.

Measurable - how will you know you have achieved your goal? map out some markers so you will now you are moving in the right direction

Attatainable - make sure it is realistic and in reach.

Reasonable - you want to ensure it is not too outlandish and unreasonable for you to achieve.

Timely - put a date and time if you can to each goal or dream, this will help you to focus and make this a reality.

Visualise your goal or dream. What day is it?, what time of day? who is around you? what are you doing? what things can you hear and smell around you? visualise it so you can imagine you are already living that dream or goal. Feel as if you are there.

I want you to do something today, get your goals into focus, take action begin to visualise each and every day.... until they become your second reality, have this vision and focus will help you get nearer to the end result, why? because you will be tied to your goal or dream.

I heard this quote today and felt it was so pertinent to many of us:
"All my life I wanted to be someone, I guess I should have been more specific"

Is your Phone a Huge Frightening Monster?

Its one thing working for a corporation and talking to suppliers, customers, peers or colleagues on the phone, but when you have to do this for yourself! Thats another ball game. I remember my first follow up phone call to a potential customer of my new Nutritional Business many years back. I got so excited when I came home from my regular 9-5 job and checked my voicemail, and after a few weeks of nothing, there was this one message where a caller left her name and telephone number and wanted ME.... yes ME to get in touch with her as she was 'desperate' to lose some weight...

Well, I jumped for joy, hugged my kids and said this is it, mom's in business. I went to my home office and took out my 'script' of what I was going to say to her, and a note book to take some notes. I practiced my 'speil' and then when feeling confident picked up the phone. I dialed the first three numbers, then promptly hung up the phone. No, just one more practice required.... I went over my speech again and again, then told myself that I could do this... hands sweating I started to dial her number again, and at that point my son walked into my office, so I hung up.

He asked if I had succeeded in getting my first customer. I had to tell him, that I had not made the call yet. This was a whole hour of me being in my home office with the intention of calling. At that point my 11 year old son, said 'Mum, you have got to call her some time, you might as well get it over with now, otherwise you will never get customers'. I thought about what he had just said, and it hit me... he was absolutely right. So without further thought I picked up the phone, while he was standing there looking at me, and I spoke to my very first customer... I was as nervous as hell, but because my son was in front of me, I had to show him that his mum could do this and get her first customer.

What I found, was that as I began asking my potential customer more questions and interacting with her, I began to relax and enjoyed the conversation. I came off that phone and made my very first sale with my very first phone call.....

What did I learn from this? If a prospect calls you, or leaves their information with you to contact them, you are the one in control, it is not a 'cold call', so why be scared. Your prospect is waiting for you to call and give them additional information, they have already asked for this and are expecting it. So have no fear and go ahead and call.....

Tip for the day

When working from home, it is important tht the rest of the family also acknowledge that you are working and not there for their leisure.

Set some boundaries first off with family and friends. Set out your working hours during the day, and make this be known that you are not to be distrubed during these working hours, unelss it is an emergency.

Once you establish a working hours pattern, your friends and family will begin to respect that. Encourage your friends and family to 'book appointments' with you for Lunch or otherwise. That way, you will have built in your work schedule to accomodate this.

The Pearl Story By John Giagkiozis

I’m going to tell you the story of one of the most precious items on earth, and how this story can benefit you!

It all starts in a shell a tiny little shell that strives for survival, but how can a living thing survive when it doesn’t move in its life span? And to add to that, produce something that precious like a pearl? The only function a shell does is to open up and to close up again and again and again till the end of its days.

You see the secret is that it feeds with plankton, every time the shell opens up some amount of food will get inside and once that happens the only thing the shell has to do is to close up. Once it digests its food the shells rinsings remain inside. This cycle repeats itself over and over again till the rinsings accumulate and form the pearl as we know it. One day a fisherman finds the shell and when he opens it up screams with joy, for what he has found has changed his life.

How can this story benefit you? STOP reading this article for a minute and think about it!

It’s very simple, if you wait enough everything will come to you, Patience is a great virtue. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not telling you to sit all day on your couch doing nothing and wait for money and fortune to pour on you.

If you work on yourself, your personality and skills, good things will start happening. You will be considered to be a “pearl”, what can that possibly mean? Everyone that gets the chance to meet you talk to you or interact with you in any way, will feel very fortunate. The “Demand” for You will rise and so will your “Prize” do. Actually you will become the “Prize”; you will become a giant magnet of success and fortune.

Friedrich Nietchzche once wrote ‘man is like the tree, the higher it stretches up, up to the light, its root get deeper towards the darkness’ it’s a good quote to bear in mind while you walk down the path of fortune.

Can You Socialise While Working From Home

I guess many of us who work from home find it a lonely task at times. There are not office chats, ‘bouncing ideas from colleagues over the desk, no truly instantaneous interactions as you would get in an office environment. So why does working from home appeal to many?

It is not as easy as some people think to be able to work from home. This takes a certain type of person. One who can organise themselves efficiently, one who can focus on tasks at hand and not get distracted by the doorbell, family or friends coming over to a chat, or being the person who does all the running around for the rest of the family, just because ‘Joe works from home!’. Anyone out there relate?

There are times when you just got to put your foot down. (No, not down someones mouth, just put your foot down, be firm). Working from home, means exactly that…. Working from home.

There are networks that you can join to help with the socialising aspect of working from home, locally business organisations such as the local chamber of commerce, BNI groups, Rotary Clubs and the like. Many people who join such organisations have one thing in comment, they all work from home or have their own business whether working from home, or having branched out to a small office or shop.

But its not all about business when it comes to socialising. What do you do for your birthday or xmas parties? Its hardly the same planning a xmas party for yourself now is it? But why not plan a party for your customers who have been loyal to you throughout the year. Just a select gathering will do. It is nice to see the faces behind the names, and socialise and get to know them on a more personal level, this is a brilliant way to do this. Remember you need to check your budget and to book them in early, as they are bound to have other Christmas parties to go to.

If there are any other ways out there to ‘socialise’ when you are faced with a working from home situation, please feel free to share.
