Who is Colette Morris - WorkfmhomeDiva - Laid open and bare!

Well who am I? Well I am Colette Morris, daughter, mother, friend, analyst, entrepreneur, nutritionist and mentor and motivator! As you can see many roles, to different people.

I thought I would write an article about me, who I am, some of what I have gone through in my life and what I strive to achieve.

I have always been a positive person from an early age, I give thanks to my father for inspiring me and teaching me to become an independent person, and that I could be and do whatever I put my mind to no matter what adversity I was up against. My father and mother were sticklers for education. Knowledge is power, I could hear my father say. He left school at 13 to go to work to support his mother in the carribbean, this was not unusual for that time. He never completed his education, but always wanted to become a doctor. He loved to read. He at one stage started night class in the UK to become a Doctor, but I guess his dreams were crushed when a family soon arrived and he gave this up to support his wife and children and mortgage.

Both my parents came from the Carribbean island of Jamaica to the United Kingdom to start a better life for their future. They met in England soon after they both arrived here and stayed together for over 40 years before my father was sadly taken away from us.

I remember life in the early days was not terribly easy for my family, but my parents never had credit cards or bank accounts only saving accounts. Anything they wanted they saved up and bought it with cash. We didnt have a multitude of money, but we never wanted for anything. I was not spoiled and did not have as much as some of my friends, but we were a close knit family and extended family and remain that way now. My father hated owing money to anyone. He managed to pay off his mortgage within 10 years purely by working two jobs to repay his loan off quickly. He has been my inspiration to do well in life, and I looked up to him, and as I grew older and wiser he looked up to me also. He was proud at how I turned out in life, I left school with a great education, but made a decision to go straight to work and not to go to university. He never showed his dissappointment with me, but encouraged me to develop my career all the way. I owned by first property at the age of 21, he 'borrowed' me some of the money for the deposit as i did not quite have enough. I made sure I repaid him back within a year. He was always there to give advise and lend me money from time to time and he at one point confided in me that he admired what I was doing, as he had wanted to own property, but was too scared to take the leap of faith and owe too much money at once.

I got married and had two boys, who are now strapping teenagers. My marriage didn't work out for one reason or another and I found myself single again 9 years ago, with two young boys then both under the age of 11 and it was during this time that I embarked on an amazing adventure that has changed my outlook and life so far. Little after my marriage broke up, this was a dark time for me. I found myself worrying that I now had no back up, no support financially and little or no savings. To cap it off, I found myself taking a redundancy package from my job of 21 years (I know I dont look like I have been working that long!) and it was during that time that I decided to work for myself. I became an IT Contractor. This was great for a few years, I loved the feeling of being independent, not relying on an employer telling me when to take my holidays, or days off, I loved the high income, the better lifestyle I could now afford for myself and my kids and being able to fix up my home how I liked. Working for myself had shown my children that they could work for theirselves and not for an employer when they were able to. Being with me, helped them become entrepreneurs themselves as young kids alwasy dreaming up ways to make more money or increase their pocket money to be able to save up for something they wanted to buy for themselves.
But, I my let down was that I wasn't saving up properly for my future. Then, four years later, I found the contracts starting to dry up and I knew I needed to find a work from home business to suppliment my full time income. I was searching online for 6 months until I found a really good weight loss company. I was a little overweight myself so I think this was why it really appealed to me. In my unhappy state with worrying about being on my own and not enough income to come in, I had begun to eat the wrong foods or snacks when I knew I shouldn't.

I embarked on this new Work from home business for 4 years, and was happy making an extra £1,500 per month, however it was hard work, and with having to call customers training calls with downline, attending weekend meetings I found I did not have enough time for myself or my boys, so this really wasn't the ideal for me. I must have spent over £8,000 or more during those 4 years with that company and in fairness I did also make money back, but I was not enough for me to break even. I put this down to experience and then I then began searching around online for another home business and came across another businesss venture, but again, this one did not work out.

My life at that time -- I was busy working living pay check to pay check. I had a major set back last year when my paternal Grandmother died, and as she was my father's mother, he had died, so it was left to me the oldest child to fly over to the carribbean to attend to her funeral arrangements. For this I used up the last of my savings and was now down to just 1 months worth of salary out of my emergency salary fund if by chance anything had happened. This was something I had learned with joining up for the Robert Allen Multiple Streams of Income programme. One of the first things to get out of debt was to ensure you had at least 6 months of your income in savings. I had used 5 months of this just to arrange my grandmothers funeral -- not to mention nearly losing my life over there at the same time by robbers! That is another story for another day. So on my return to the UK end of October November I began looking again for another way to earn money from home.

By chance one day tweeting away on twitter, I came across a 'tweet' and thought, this looks interesting and from there my life is changing in a really good way. I am now in business with a great bunch of people who are really supportive and encouraging, and they all want me to succeed and achieve my dreams. Being with this company has shown me what it is to be with the right company who are serious about each and everyone who joins them and ensure that they start their business in the proper and focussed manner, which was so unnlike my previous MLM, where some members did not want to share their 'secrets' of what was successful for them, and who were not supportive enough and who I found left you on your own to figure things out, while they made their monthly commissions and residual income from you just being underneath them in the company.

So, after 6 years of research, lessons learnt and challenges (not failures), and after finally finding my own way to success and discovering what I believe to be my true calling for wanting to help others achieve their potential and their dreams, I am now able to be in a position to help the new consultants I bring in to my primary opportunity sort through the 'clutter' and focus on those activities that actually produce results, so that they go into profit quickly.

Because thanks to the leaders in my company who have spent thousands of dollars on books, courses, seminars and conferences, the tens of thousands between them that they spent trying and testing various marketing strategies, and the hours and hours they have spent in front of their computer screen -- thanks to all that, I now actually have something to offer the market. Something that can help others who are struggling to take their businesses to the next level.
